Pinterest Party - Recycled Magazine Crosses

Pin It Our first Pinterest party was a big hit!  Between the spirits and the food and the laughter, we managed to finish most of our crosses--albeit at varying levels of expertise, lol.  {To see the tutorial for this craft, click here.} Take a look at the fun:

It seemed as if we were never going to stop folding paper!

The jokes were flying at this end of the table.  :)

Nearing the end--concentrated gluing.

All in all it was a great evening--we had lots of fun and learned something new to boot.
Here's a preview of what our next party will bring:

Can't wait until then!  In the meantime,

  3. I want to say it was about 4 hours. That included eating and drinking and as well, so the actual crafting was probably 3. Some people came with some of their rolls already done, so they had a head start, lol.

  5. I am currently working on making a cross as a wedding gift. I am trying to do my best and am hoping you can tell my what glue you use to ensure that the cores do no unravel. And any other tips on securing a well made, straight and NEAT cross! Please respond. Thank you.

    1. We used regular elmers glue. Just be sure you don't use a generic brand because they seem to be too thin. After the coils dry, if the end want to lift up, just put a dab of hot glue on it.

The best crosses were the ones that seemed to have a uniform center--either a large coil or four medium coils. Look at the photos on my blog and you'll see what I mean. Also, do what you can to make sure the outer wrap is straight. That's something else you'll notice on the blog. The crosses that tried to conform to the shape of the coils didn't turn out as well as the ones where the outer wrap is straight. Just make it straight, then fill in with smaller coils. Hope that helps, and I'd love to see yours when you're finished!

  6. I don't see a tutorial for the modge-podge crosses that are mentioned as the next party project. It's very pretty.
