Sweet little girl with Turkey Onesie and tutu.  From start to finish, two hours, tops!

A few weeks before Thanksgiving, right about the time I discovered Pinterest, I stumbled across the photo below and knew I had to make one (the outfit, not the baby, lol)! I love how it turned out.

How To:

Supplies:

1. Turkey Pattern (see below)
2. Onesie
3. 1 yard each of orange, yellow and ivory tulle
4. Ribbon and fabric scraps
5. Wonder Under
6. Optional:  Fabric paint, needle and thread or sewing machine
7. The following tutorial:  How to Make a Tutu No Sew 

Steps:

1. Enlarge or reduce the pattern to fit the onesie
2. Cut one body, one beak and six wings out of your chosen fabric.
3. Follow the directions on the Wonder Under to apply the turkey to the onesie.
4. Optional:  Use fabric paint to outline the turkey, or sew a zigzag stitch around the edges of each pattern piece.
5. Watch and follow along with the video on making the tutu, using the tulle and ribbon
6. Dress a cute baby in the outfit and bring on the smiles!

Easter Basket Upcycle

 

I was co-hosting a baby shower recently and needed a small container to hold the game prizes.  I wanted something that the new mother might be able to use later, so I looked around my junk room studio and spied a leftover basket from last Easter.  This is why it's so hard to throw/gift things away--they can always be upcycled into something else!

 

This was a simple upcycle.  The handle was just glued in, so after a little wiggling it pulled right out.

 

Next came a coat of baby blue paint.

 

And finally, some beads to finish it off.  I threaded the beads onto some string, then pulled the string through to the inside and tied it off.

 

For a fast project (completed the night before the shower, lol) I think it turned out super cute.

Lovin' Our Peeps!

We love our Peeps, and we love creating fun Easter decorations, so you gotta know we LOVE creating Easter decorations with our Peeps!  Here is just a sampling of the cutest ones we've found so far, and of course, they all include the How To's:

Yum!  The Peeps over at Stampin' Mamas created this Peep wreath and a very well-written tutorial.  It uses an embroidery hoop, so you can make it in different sizes.

Peep-a-Boo Wreath from Tried & True--another great tutorial with clear instructions and good photos.  She also shows alternate designs in her updated wreaths.

Beautiful Peep Centerpiece from Mommy Savers.  Since a good part of the supplies are from the dollar store, you can make this for under $10!

The peeps over at Babble created this awesome Peep Sunflower Cake.  A Peep with every slice!

Topiary by Homespun Candle Momma - it looks difficult, but after checking out the tutorial, it is definitely in my skill range {easy!}.

For the non-edible variety, Amanda over at Dandelions and Lace created these super-cute plush Peeps.  Love them!  (She also has a tute for bunny peeps :)

Show all your peeps they are loved with the free peeps topper from Eighteen25.  Print, package and present, how easy is that?

Go Get Crafty, Sister!

The Perfect St. Paddy's Day Toddler Dress???

Did you ever have something in mind that you wanted to buy, but could never find it?  That's how it's been with finding the perfect toddler St. Patrick's day dress.  I had this image in my mind, and when I went to buy it, it couldn't be found.

Oh, some came close, but ultimately I knew I was going to have to break out the thinking cap, and the sewing machine, and make it myself.

Here are the three images I'm using as a guide:

Pin It This dress actually came the closest to what I want:  the color is perfect,
but I want the tutu to be part of the bodice, and I want a skirt underlay.  (It's also $119!)

This cutie was made from a bowl and plate I found on sale at Target.  I didn't have the heart to paint it.

Thrift shop find.

  Valentine cupcake plate with bowl:  Another Target find--this time I did paint over the inner square of the plate, since it had a Christmas theme.

lol, this funny one was made with a light fixture and a glass candlestick.  I filled the candlestick with plumbers putty and shoved the screw from the knob into it.
